As defined by the state of Illinois’ Executive Order by Governor JB Pritzker, CFPA provides an essential service and will continue to operate and provide free and confidential services for survivors of abuse in the Greater Peoria Area amid COVID-19. The crisis hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-559-SAFE (7233).
We have made the following adjustments to our protocol and procedures to keep all staff and clients safe, as recommended by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the CDC:
Emergency Safe Shelter
CPFA continues to assist individuals and their families fleeing violence or abuse in their homes with safe shelter through our Peoria shelter, temporarily closing the Carol House of Hope, our Pekin shelter. All residents will receive virus screenings upon entry.

CFPA continues to provide assistance with Orders of Protection over the phone.

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month this April, CFPA is hosting its 3rd annual 5K run/1 mile walk, I Run with Survivors, on Saturday, 4/11 at 8:00 AM. Registration is now open here.
In lieu of a formal gathering like years past, we encourage all participants to practice social distancing amid COVID-19 and “run” their own race for survivors of sexual assault from the comfort and safety of your home.
Wear your race shirt and post a photo to social media, go on a walk, do a home workout or yoga session, or if safety allows, you can could run a personal 5K and record your time. The possibilities are endless! Share what you do to Facebook or Instagram and be sure to tag us @CFPApeoria or Facebook.com/centerforpreventionofabuse.
All participants will still receive race items and can even elect to have them shipped right to your door. Proceeds support our sexual assault department and free and confidential services for survivors.
The general admission fee is $30. The registration fee for participants ages 4-17 is $15 and registration is free for children younger than three years old. All participants will receive a teal race day t-shirt, the color of sexual assault awareness. First time racers receive teal shoelaces and a water bottle.
Merchandise from CFPA, including coffee mugs, pop sockets, and more, are available for purchase on the registration website. The website also features a fundraising platform that allows participants to raise money for CFPA through peer-to-peer fundraising.
