Rubber Ducks on Sale for 36th Annual Duck Race

with BOGO Ducks While Supplies Last

East Peoria, Ill. – Ducks are now on sale for the Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) signature fundraiser, the 36th Annual Race, with a limited-time offer for buy-one-get-one free ducks during the June 3 kick off, while supplies last. June 3 through August 24, CFPA is selling ducks online at www.duckracepeoria.com and at select sales sites throughout Central Illinois. Donors can also mail their entry forms to CFPA, PO Box 3855, Peoria, IL 61612 or place an order over the phone at CFPA’s main line, 309-691-0551. Supporters of CFPA and the organization’s peaceful mission can get their ducks in the race for $5 each.

“The Duck Race has been the signature fundraiser for the Center for Prevention of Abuse for 36 years providing the agency with valuable resources to help promote safety and peace for all who need care. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide leadership and crucial services to survivors and their families,” said Carol Merna, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Prevention of Abuse. “This year it is especially important to raise funds with nearly 1 million fewer Federal dollars reaching CFPA on the front lines. We are asking generous supporters, near and far, to get as many ducks in the race as they can to help us reach our goal of selling all 35,000 ducks.”

On Saturday, August 24, 35,000 ducks race down a giant water slide at EastSide Centre in East Peoria. The first 15 ducks to cross the finish line win valuable prizes for their owners. The person whose duck makes it to the finish line first wins $10,000; second-place prize is $5,000, and the third-place prize is $2,500. Other prizes include a stunning bracelet and watch set from Bremer Jewelry, electronics, gift cards and more. Those who sponsor ducks need not be present to win.

Race Day festivities begin at 11 a.m. on August 24 featuring live music from Sista and the Misters, food trucks, face painting, bouncy houses, and enjoyment for the whole family. The ducks will race at 1 p.m.

CFPA’s Duck Race is one of the longest running Duck Race events in the country. Thanks to generous sponsors, 100% of the proceeds from duck sales support the free and confidential programs and services offered at CFPA, including emergency safe shelter, counseling, therapy, Orders of Protection, medical and legal advocacy, prevention education and more; all with the goal of helping all people live free from violence and abuse.

Ducks are now available for adoption online at www.duckracepeoria.com or by calling CFPA at 309-691-0551.
