Milestone Year for Center for Prevention of Abuse Duck Race

with BOGO Ducks While Supplies Last

East Peoria, Ill. – Ducks are now on sale for the Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) signature fundraiser, the 35th annual Duck Race, with a limited-time offer for buy-one-get-one free ducks during the June 1st kick off, while supplies last. June 1st through August 26th, CFPA is selling ducks online at www.duckracepeoria.com and at select sales sites throughout Central Illinois. Donors can also mail their entry forms to CFPA, PO Box 3855, Peoria, IL 61612 or place an order over the phone at CFPA’s main line, 309-691-0551. Community members can sponsor a duck for $5.

“35 years of ducks is a big deal! The Duck Race has been the signature fundraiser for the Center for Prevention of Abuse for three and a half decades and all that time we have been leaders in promoting peace and safety for everyone, one yellow duck at a time,” said Carol Merna, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Prevention of Abuse. “To commemorate our 35th year, we are increasing the number of ducks available for adoption. We are asking our generous supporters to celebrate this milestone 35th year by helping CFPA reach the goal of 35,000 ducks sold – more ducks than we’ve ever raced! We’re going to need a bigger truck!”

On Saturday, August 26th, all 35,000 ducks race down a giant water slide at EastSide Centre in East Peoria. The first 15 ducks to cross the finish line win valuable prizes for their owners. The person whose duck makes it to the finish line first wins $10,000; second-place prize is $5,000, and the third-place prize is $2,500. Other prizes include a beautiful bracelet and watch set from Bremer Jewelry, electronics, gift cards and more.

Race Day begins at 11 a.m. on August 26th featuring live music from Sista and the Misters, food trucks, face painting, bouncy houses, and enjoyment for the whole family. The ducks race at 1 p.m.

CFPA’s Duck Race is one of the longest running Duck Race events in the country. Thanks to generous sponsors, 100% of the proceeds from duck sales support the free and confidential programs and services offered at CFPA, including an emergency safe shelter, counseling, therapy, Orders of Protection, medical and legal advocacy, prevention education and more; all with the goal of helping all people live free from violence and abuse.

Ducks are now available for adoption online at www.duckracepeoria.com or by calling CFPA at 309-691-0551.
