The Center for Prevention of Abuse is the only agency in the State of Illinois to provide combined services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, and elder abuse. The Center also reaches students age pre-K through college with violence prevention education, as well as abusers with an abuser
re-education program.

Services at The Center for Prevention of Abuse include a 24 hour crisis hotline, counseling, safe temporary shelter, transitional apartments, emotional support, assistance in obtaining community resources and help in acquiring employment skills and work referrals.

Court Advocacy is available at the Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford County courthouses. Trained domestic violence counselors aid victims in obtaining Orders of Protection, learning about victims' rights, and accessing other services.

Medical Advocacy is offered to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Trained volunteers and domestic violence/sexual assault professionals are on call 24 hours a day to meet with victims in healthcare settings to support, inform, and advocate for victims during a time of crisis.

Education programs for students, victims, and perpetrators play a key role in The Center's effort to eliminate violence in our community.

Training for professionals, volunteers, and the public focuses on facts and issues involved in domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse. Trainings are designed for the specific needs of the audience.
 
Referrals to and cooperation with other community or government agencies or organizations that provide services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse provide victims with the most comprehensive support possible.
