WHAT'S NEW AT THE CENTER
The Center for Prevention of Abuse has a wonderful new addition!
The Tazewell County House of Hope, a shelter in Pekin for battered women and children, is now under the wing of The Center. Center staff have been providing counseling, support groups and court assistance with Orders of Protection to the residents of the Tazewell County House of Hope for many years. This new arrangement will streamline and enhance services for domestic violence survivors and bring new efficiencies to agency management.
The Pekin shelter will be now be called “Carol House of Hope at The Center for Prevention of Abuse” in memory of Carol Wright, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Pete Wright of Pekin, who donated the building for the shelter several years ago.
Carol House of Hope may be reached at 353-7512. The Pekin counseling office for The Center may be reached at 477-3066. All other Center services may be reached at 691-0551 or 800-559-7233.
