volunteer

We appreciate your interest in helping to open doors and change lives for those persons affected by violence and abuse in our community.

There are many types of volunteer opportunities available at The Center for Prevention of Abuse. The two basic types of service are direct and non-direct. Just as it sounds, direct service volunteers work directly with clients one on one and in groups. Because of the very special needs of those who have been affected by violence whether domestic, sexual, or elder abuse, we require all direct service volunteers to complete a training course before they begin that service. There are different training requirements set for each type of client we serve.

Non-direct service include such tasks as cleaning; organizing; sorting and/or moving donated goods, furniture, and clothing; clerical or administrative tasks; lawn & gardening; helping with the annual Duck Race fundraiser; and other ?behind the scenes? assistance.

On behalf of our staff and those we serve, we hope that you will choose to give of your time and talents to The Center. Without people like you, we would not be able to build a safe, peaceful community.
