Staff trainings are an integral component of the school-based programming provided to students. Prevention Educators train staff on topics related to each of our classroom programs, including, but not limited to:
Child Abuse Prevention
Learn about the effects of domestic violence and sexual assault upon children. Know the warning signs of abuse and how to reinforce the body safety rules presented in Keeping My Body Safe.
Mandated Reporter Training
Understand the procedure for making a report of child abuse or neglect to the authorities, as well as become aware of the indicators of child abuse and neglect.
Second Step Staff Training
This training prepares teachers for facilitating lessons on the Second Step social-emotional skills program. Further, teachers learn methods of teaching students social-emotional problem solving and anger management skills, as well as how to reinforce prosocial behaviors in the classroom.
Steps to Respect Staff Training
This training is a companion to the Steps To Respect curriculum that addresses how to identify bullying behaviors, how to support children involved in bullying situations, and how to intervene effectively in bullying situations.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness
A teen who is in a violent dating relationship rarely confides in adults about the abuse. It is important that school staff understand the warning signs of dating violence and ways that they can support a teen who is being victimized by a dating partner.
