What is it?
Inside the Classroom is the product of the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault's sexual assault prevention education evaluation project for high school students. The curriculum contains six teaching guides from the six top performing programs in ICASA's evaluation project.
The Programs
Dating Violence Prevention
Identify rape myths and facts, define consent and describe the effects of date rape.
Dating Violence/Healthy Relationships
Identify the differences between a healthy relationship and an abusive relationship, define sexual assault, identify rape myths and facts, identify ways to help reduce the risk of sexual victimization, employ problem-solving skills and identify resources and support systems for survivors of violence.
Healthy Relationships/Dating Violence
Define dating violence and consent, identify rape myths and characteristics of a healthy relationship, define sexual harassment and identify steps to take if you are a victim or know a victim of sexual violence.
Rape Awareness Prevention Program/Dating Violence Prevention Program
Distinguish rape myths from facts, define consent, identify warning signs of an abusive relationship, and define sexual harassment and rape.
Dating Violence/Healthy Relationships
Identify myths regarding sexual assault in regards to gender, the media and child sexual abuse, identify characteristics of a healthy relationship, the warning signs of an unhealthy relationship, and define acquaintance rape.
How to Get the Best Out of Your Relationships and Avoid Them Getting the Best of You
Distinguish sexual assault myths and facts, learn to intervene as bystanders and identify acquaintance rape prevention techniques.
Bringing Inside The Classroom To Your Students
Prevention Educators are available to present any or all of the Inside The Classroom program topics to your high school or college students. In addition to guided discussion, our team uses games and films to explore these topics and address myths about relationships and dating.
