Adopt a Duck... End Abuse!
On Sunday, August 24, 2008, thousands of adorable rubber duckies will be "adopted" by friends of The Center for Prevention of Abuse and dropped in the water on the Peoria Riverfront.
This massive yellow spectacle raises funds to open doors to safety for victims of domestic, sexual or elder abuse, and helps to change lives so that children and adults can protect themselves, so that seniors can have a voice, so that survivors can heal and so that everyone can live in peace.
One little rubber duck can...
. race to the finish line to win a great prize for its adopter
. donate $5 to support the services of The Center for Prevention of Abuse
. bring a message of hope to someone
who seeks safety and support.
Thousands of little rubber ducks can...
. raise more than $100,000 to support Center services
. provide help to thousands of lives that may be unsafe, isolated or neglected
. impress the need for family violence services upon individuals, employees, other business owners and legislators
. ensure the ability of The Center to continue to reach, each year, nearly 25,000 area women and men, children and seniors
