The family violence intervention project consists of 26 weekly group meetings led by two trained facilitators.
Who may participate?
Men whose partners threaten to leave.
Men whose partners have left.
Men who have an Order of Protection against them.
Men who are ordered by the court or by DCFS to attend.
Is there a fee required?
Every participant must pay something to be a part of the group. This fee is based upon a sliding scale, which is assessed at the time of intake.
Participant Expectations
Give an honest history of their past violent behavior.
Agree to stop abuse and violence toward partners and children.
Keep a daily log of verbal abuse or attempts at control.
Discuss abuse, power, control, and parenting.
Goals of the program
Identify abusive behavior.
Develop respect for partner and children.
See how violence affects the family.
Learn positive problem solving behaviors.
Learn to relieve stress and anger nonviolently.
