WEEK: Ameren Illinois lends hand to Center for Prevention of Abuse

PEORIA, Ill. — Ameren Illinois is trying to help the Center for Prevention of Abuse teach area school kids about violence prevention.

The company donated $20,000 to the center. That money will help fund school-based programs for kids in pre-k- through college.

The Center for Prevention of abuse said they cover everything from identifying and avoiding violence in teen dating.

“The lessons that we teach for non violent conflict resolution, helping children have a safe place to learn, making sure they feel comfortable with their surroundings and their peers, the core of social emotional learning,” said Carol Merna with the Center.

In addition to providing money,  Ameren Illinois also donated their time rolling up their sleeves and helping with landscaping outside the center.
