WEEK: Locals walk to end sexual abuse

PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) — It is estimated that a case of sexual assault happens every 98 seconds.

The Center for Prevention of Abuse Is trying to reduce those dramatic Statistics.

Holding signs, and wearing teal they marched through town trying to raise awareness.

The group is hoping to open people’s eyes about who really is at risk for an attack.

“We would like everyone to know that sexual assault and sexual abuse can affect everyone. We see children being abused by people they know, adolescence, and adults. We even see seniors being abused by people that they know or in a long term care facility,” said Julie Boland with the center.

The Center was joined by Bradley University Police, and SGT. Tiara Warrick from the U.S. Army Reserve.
