Quick Guide: What Is Domestic Violence?

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Do you know what Domestic Violence is?

Domestic violence (DV) is a pattern of behavior used to establish power and control over another person through fear and intimidation. DV affects people from all social, racial and financial backgrounds. It affects men and women, old and young, heterosexual and homosexual couples alike. Regardless of age, race, gender or sexual orientation – victims all experience shock, pain, confusion and betrayal due to the abuse.
