It’ll be a better night’s sleep for those in need.
Sherman’s partnered with TEMPUR-PEDIC mattresses to donate 60 twin size beds to the Center for Prevention of Abuse.
“We’re housing women, men and children who are fleeing from domestic violence, so we are trying to make their stay as comfortable as we can,” says Sara Dillefeld, Director of Domestic Violence and Family Centered Services.
She says their current mattresses are six years old and new ones are needed.
The Center, which has branches in Peoria and Pekin, houses 500 people each year suffering from domestic violence. They combine to stay a total of 10,000 nights yearly.
“So you know these mattresses are going to be put to good use,” says Dillefeld.
The donation is part of Sherman’s “Buy One, Give One” promotion this summer where whenever some purchased a TEMPER-PEDIC mattress, another was donated to a local organization.
“The difference between a cheap mattress and a really nice mattress can really make a difference,” says Paul Sherman, General Manager of Sherman’s. “So it feels good to be able to get together with TEMPER and help out in that fashion.”
All of the Center’s gently used mattresses are being replaced and donated to EP!C, which serves those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
